Southall Village wins ‘Best Regeneration Initiative’ at 2020 Evening Standard New Homes Awards

We are thrilled to announce that Southall Village has won ‘Best Regeneration Initiative’ at the 2020 Evening Standard New Homes Awards.

Recognising an inspired scheme that has transformed a neglected site into a vibrant new quarter, Southall Village is reinvigorating the former Havelock Estate, delivering 922 high quality homes and establishing a thriving canalside neighbourhood.

Introducing significant parkland and play areas to the estate, as well as bringing a 500m stretch of the Grand Union Canal back into public use, judges commended Catalyst’s holistic approach to regeneration.

Catalyst’s masterplan divides the site into a series of vibrant ‘micro neighbourhoods’, characterised by different housing types and styles, from sleek canalside apartments to spacious townhouses overlooking the green.

An impressive 53% of homes are affordable, including 30 rented homes in the current phase specially designed for over-55s. Designed to be ‘tenure blind’, these properties blend seamlessly with the private sale and Shared Ownership* properties.

Essential to a successful regeneration project, Catalyst worked in close tandem with the local community. An independent resident’s group has delivered over 30 community projects, and a weekly Community Payback presence has clocked up 3,600 volunteer hours keeping Havelock clean.

The current phase of Southall Village is currently fully reserved. For more information on similar regeneration schemes in West London, visit ARRO or Aspire at St. Bernard’s Gate
