Best Places to Eat In South-West London: Celebrating World Food Day at The Switch

To mark World Food Day on the 16th of October, we have rounded up three of our favourite places to eat near to our homes at The Switch, Wimbledon. In case this South-West London enclave wasn’t desirable enough already, residents have a thriving food scene right on the doorstep!

Just around the corner from The Switch is popular steakhouse, Roxie, in Earlsfield. Only an 11-minute walk from the development, this high-quality steakhouse is the perfect place for a romantic date night. We highly recommend their rump steak, or their vegetarian burger if meat isn’t for you, washed down with a delicious Monkey Business cocktail!

Only a 7-minute cycle from The Switch is the buzzing Tooting Broadway Market. Tooting Broadway Market has been running for over 80 years and offers an enormous selection of eateries to suit all tastes. If we had to choose, three of our top picks are;

Koi Ramen – featured in Time Out’s Cheap Eats of the Week, Koi Ramen is a delicious and authentic Japanese noodle bar that serves an assortment of ramens at affordable prices. If you’re in the market for a full feast, we recommend starting with the gyoza and finishing off with the Matcha ice crema.

Brickwood – the perfect stop-off to pick up your morning essentials, serving up a killer Flat White and loads of brunch options. Plus, don’t miss their cocktails and beers served on Friday and Saturday nights.

Barra10 – another option for meat lovers, this South American joint offers some of London’s best Argentinian ribeye steaks and empanadas!

Finally, The White Onion is a seasonal French à la carte restaurant in the heart of Wimbledon Village. An ideal place for a special occasion, and it’s only a 17-minute bus from The Switch, with a warm yet relaxed atmosphere. Their pan-fried cod is a particular fan favourite!
