Living in a location that you love is a top priority for most homeowners, with the local neighbourhood and hangouts often something that buyers research before moving.
With a collection of new homes at The Folium in Muswell Hill, we’ve pulled together a mini weekend guide to some of the best nearby spots, to help our customers discover more about the local area.
Set in the borough of Haringey, home to over 600 acres of parkland that makes up a whopping 25% of its total area, and an abundance of independent restaurants, cafes and shops Muswell Hill is the dream location for many hopeful homeowners.
Whether you enjoy spending your weekend taking long dog walks, heading out to a restaurant with friends for lunch, or relaxing in the cinema, Muswell Hill checks all the boxes and more. No wonder The Times voted it one of the best places to live in the UK!
So, if you’re wondering what to do in Muswell Hill this weekend…
Saturday Mornings
One of the area’s best features is its abundance of green spaces, allowing for a lovely Saturday morning walk. Perhaps Muswell Hill’s most popular green space is Alexandra Park; a gorgeous park with 80 acres of manicured gardens, over 700 types of flora and fauna, and even a boating pond! With trendy cafes dotted around, why not pop into the nearby café Kiss the Koala for brunch or quick cappuccino before.
The less manicured, but no less magnificent park of Queen’s Wood is another perfect place for a morning walk. Queen’s Wood feels like a small oasis, over 30 different species of birds, it is a must see. Unlike the more known woodland parks like Hamstead Heath, Queen’s Wood remains largely a hidden secret in this small North London community.
Saturday Afternoons
After your walk, why not take a stroll down the Muswell Hill high street and browse the wide variety of shops. Local favourite Sally Bourne Interiors is filled with unique handmade items, or check out some of the sustainable clothes shops such as Cha Cha Cha or Rakha. When you get peckish, there are great places to eat – the popular Chriskitch, is a family-led restaurant serving delicious organic meals, or try out the local Spanish restaurant La Lluna, that serves great tasting tapas and a fabulous cocktail menu.
As Muswell Hill is home to an Everyman Cinema, housed in a magnificent grade II listed building, going to catch a movie on a Saturday evening will be a film screening like no other.
Sunday Mornings
Opening at 9am on Sundays is the fantastic farmers market in Alexandra Palace, filled with organic fruits and vegetables and over 200 types of mouth-watering cheeses, as well as plenty of other small businesses. Whilst in Alexandra Palace it’s worth checking for any exciting upcoming events, as the venue has hosted incredible concerts, from a wide range of musicians from Bjork to The Proms, and even to Jay Z.
For those who prefer a slower paced Sunday morning, check out the charming local bakery, Boulangerie Pierre Alix, or collect some fresh bread and pastries from Gail’s in Muswell Hill.
Sunday Evenings
Muswell Hill is known for its abundance of local pub grub, and a Sunday afternoon is a great time to enjoy a Sunday roast. A Muswell Hill favourite is independent pub The Victoria Stakes, or a visit to family friendly pub The Furlong is highly recommended, only a ten-minute walk from The Folium.
